The Jewish Beach Club

They’ve done it again! Ariela Glück and Dana Teichner from absolutEvents – who successfully organized the Jewish European Ball in Vienna in March ’99 – managed to put Marbella, the center of Spain’s lively Costa del Sol, at the top of the European Jewish event calendar between June 18 – 25, 2000. Only this time they really managed to surpass themselves. For the "Jewish Beach Club" was the perfect opportunity to spend a memorable holiday among kindred spirits. 350 young people between the ages of 20 – 40, from 25 different countries enjoyed an amazing week of leisure, sun and fun. The hotel, a former Club Med, had all the sport facilities (tennis, volleyball, golf, gym etc…) and a swimming pool surrounded by a spacious tropical park, inviting to take long romantic walks. The excellent kosher food was served on a beautiful terrace, which instantly became everybody’s main meeting point. Also the animation program was very impressive. The social calendar was filled with disco-nights, a Karaokee evening, a seventies theme night and an elegant ball. Evidently the Jewish Beach Club danced regularly into the wee hours of the morning. After the traditional Shabbat and the final beach party, came the hard part, namely saying one last goodbye before everyone was again on their way to Malaga airport, to take a plane home. State of Israel Bonds, along with other sponsors (check Webpage www.jewishbeachclub.com) , not only financially supported this event, but also added a Zionist connected touch. Furthermore a substantial part of the income went to Kav Lachayim, a charity organization dedicated to the care of children with cancer. It was about time for such an event to be organized in Europe and it turned out to be truly unforgettable and unique…until the Viennese duo manages to dazzle us yet again…
